Tools are the starting point for any composite part manufacturing. The part is only as good as the tool it is made upon. Tools determine the part dimensions, surface finish, tolerances, shape as well as the part appearance, amongst other things.
We undertake tool design and manufacturing from the part 3D models – paying attention to the molding strategy, release strategy as well as the manufacturing process compatibility.
We specialize in both metallic as well as composite tooling. Our tools withstand repeated thermal and pressure curing cycles – including Autoclave cure cycles.
Typical types of tools we make are,
Metal Tools (Stainless Steel or Aluminum)
Metal Tools (Invar with composite backing)
Composite Tools – Glass Fiber Based
Composite Tools – Carbon Fiber Based
Composite Tools – Self-Heated High Efficiency
We also manufacture one-off application tools in special tooling materials which are suitable for one or maximum 2 part production (post which the tools deteriorate). These tools are used extensively in our early stage Product Development & Prototyping.
We are also a pioneer in design and manufacturing of self-heated composite tooling.
These have inbuilt heating elements embedded in the composite layup which are highly energy efficient and totally safe for handling. We fabricate self-heated tools suitable for curing temperatures upto 200 deg C – controlled by an infinitely programmable PLC to suit any ramp up, hold and ramp down rate. These tools are highly energy efficient and do not consume more than few watts of energy per square meter of the mold (as compared to many kW for autoclave or oven curing).
